CarePoint Health System opens new pediatric center at Hoboken University Medical Center

Local elected leaders joined CarePoint Health System officials Wednesday to mark the official opening of a new pediatric center at the Hoboken University Medical Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In collaboration with Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, the Dr. Bipin Patel Pediatric Multispecialty Center will offer specialty care for children and families in Hudson County, CarePoint officials said. The center is named in honor of the late Dr. Bipin Patel, the former physician-in-chief at the Children’s Hospital at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.

CarePoint officials called it the next step in the growing partnership between CarePoint Health System and Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, with a mission of providing outstanding pediatric care.

“I am thrilled to be celebrating the opening … which will undoubtedly make a profound impact on the lives of countless children and families in Hudson County,”said CarePoint Health System President and CEO Dr. Achintya Moulick. “This facility stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of Dr. Patel, whose contributions to the field of pediatric medicine will forever be remembered.”

The center offers a wide range of medical services, ensuring the most advanced treatments and care available, officials said.

“In his distinguished career, the late Dr. Bipin Patel was a prolific clinician, leader, educator and humanitarian. Time and time again, the connections he made with patients, colleagues, and healthcare leaders in New Jersey, and around the world, sparked not only interest but action,” said Leslie D. Hirsch, president and CEO of Saint Peter’s Healthcare System in New Brunswick.

“Dr. Patel was a driving force behind the development of what has grown into one of the most comprehensive and highly respected children’s programs in New Jersey.”

Hoboken City Council President Emily Jabbour, Assemblyman Raj Mukherji, County Commission Chair Anthony Romano, CarePoint Health System Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Rimmer, Hoboken University Medical Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anthony Gagliardi and other local and hospital officials joined Moulick and Hirsch at the event.

“The importance of quality pediatric care cannot be overstated, particularly in urban areas with vulnerable patient populations,”said Assemblyman Raj Mukherji. “I applaud Hoboken University Medical Center and Saint Peter’s University Hospital on this collaboration, which will expand access to world class children’s care in our region.”
