Dr. George McQuilkin is a obstetrician-gynecologist at HUMC and he received a proclamation from Mayor Ravi Bhalla today during a special ceremony held at City Hall as part of a celebration of Black History Month.
A graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1985, McQuilkin completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jersey City Medical Center before working at CarePoint Health – which owns the HUMC, Bayonne Medical Center, and Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
“It is an honor to receive this award from my community. Being recognized for the work I do on behalf of CarePoint Health and Hoboken is truly rewarding and it means so much to be celebrated in this way,” he said in a statement.
“I have dedicated my life to helping women and their families live healthy lives and it is a joy to see the babies I’ve delivered grow into Hoboken residents themselves. Thank you to Mayor Bhalla and the council for this recognition.”
Early in his career, McQuilken took over a well-known local practice and quickly became a leader in the Hoboken community by participating in the annual Mammo-Gram-A-Thons and health screenings for women in the neighborhood.
