Same Day Surgery is called outpatient surgery because you do not require an overnight stay in the hospital. Technological advances and skilled surgery teams have made it possible for us to perform many kinds of surgery in our same day surgery unit.
When you choose to have outpatient surgery at one of our same day surgery units, you will find the highest quality care in a warm, personalized setting. You will be closely monitored before, during and after your surgery. And should you need to stay in the hospital after your surgery you will in a CarePoint Health hospital, so you won’t need to be transferred to another facility for further observation and care.
Before surgery, your doctor will want you to have certain tests such as laboratory work, a chest X-ray, or an electrocardiogram (EKG). These tests must be done prior to your surgery, allowing enough time for the reports to be reviewed by your physician.

The day before surgery
On the day before your surgery, we will call you by 8 p.m. to tell you what time to arrive at the hospital. If you do not receive a call from us, please contact the hospital Admitting Department where your surgery is scheduled to be performed and ask for your arrival time.
You will be asked to be at the hospital approximately one and one half hours prior to your surgery. Every effort is made to adhere to the surgical schedule. However, emergencies and scheduling changes can occur, and your surgery may be delayed or may occur earlier than scheduled. Arriving on time can help avoid unnecessary delays.
