Cancer Diagnosis

Cancer can cause many different symptoms. Often your doctor or a specialist will order laboratory tests or other procedures to find out what is causing your symptoms.

Diagnostic services:

Laboratory
Blood, urine or other tests may be ordered to aid in diagnosis. The laboratories at both Bayonne Medical Center and Christ Hospital are the only Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited laboratories in Hudson County.

Pathology
Sample tissue may be taken. Our pathologist will evaluate the cells and tissues to determine if it is noncancerous or cancerous. Our laboratories are College of American Pathologist (CAP) accredited.

Radiology
Radiation tests such at CT, MRI, breast MRI, nuclear medicine and PET may be needed. Our laboratories are American College of Radiology (ACR) accredited.
