CAREPOINT HEALTH-CHRIST HOSPITAL PERFORMED THEIR 1000TH ROBOTIC SURGERY THIS WEEK Christ Hospital started its Robotic Surgery Program in 2014; Robotic Surgery allows for greater precision for physicians & faster recovery times for patients

JERSEY CITY, N.J., February 27, 2019 – On Monday, Dr. Ravikumar Brahmbhatt, general surgeon, and Christ Hospital’s Robotic Surgery team successfully performed a hernia repair utilizing DaVinci Surgical Robotics, during Christ Hospital’s 1000th Robotic Surgical procedure.

CarePoint’s team of leading-edge experts has reached the milestone of 1,000 minimally invasive robotic- assisted procedures utilizing the Da Vinci XI, robot. Robotic surgery which is conducted at Christ Hospital is a less-invasive procedure which allows surgeons to have greater control, vision, and precision.

“CarePoint Health has always been focused on innovation and pioneering cutting-edge medicine. Robotic Surgery is an example of this,” said Marie Duffy, Christ Hospitals Chief Hospital Executive.
“Our robotic surgery program has further improved quality, patient recovery time and outcomes. Most of the patients undergoing robotic surgery go home the same day something that was not possible previously for many of the surgeries.”

Dr. Brahmbhatt agreed, stating, “Robotic surgery is the most advanced way we can perform operations and the Da Vinci Technology the patient gets maximum benefit of quality operations. There will be less blood loss, early recovery and minimal pain with robotic operations.”

Wilfredo Toro, the 1000th robotic surgery patient at Christ Hospital was thankful for the innovative and caring team at Christ Hospital.

“I want to thank Dr. Brahmbhatt and his surgical team for the excellent job they did on my surgery, and I couldn’t have asked God for better people – thank you,” said Toro shortly after the milestone surgery.

Robotic surgery allows CarePoint’s surgical team to perform a variety of surgeries including but not limited to: hernia surgery, colon surgery, bariatric surgery, and many other general surgical procedures. Robotic surgery is also used to perform gynecological procedures and we have the availability to also do passive robotic procedures for certain orthopedic surgeries involving joint replacement.
