Bayonne Medical Center Awarded an ‘A’ for Hospital Safety and Quality

BAYONNE — The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit committed to spearheading quality, safety, and transparency in the U.S. health system awarded an ‘A’ grade for Fall of 2018 to CarePoint Health’s Bayonne Medical Center. The grade acknowledges Bayonne Medical Center’s outstanding work in protecting patients from harm and meeting the upmost, desired hospital safety standards in the United States.

“Bayonne Medical Center has an unwavering commitment to consistently deliver the highest quality and safety,” said Dr. Vijayant Singh, Chief Hospital Executive. “Our commitment can be seen in every touchpoint the patient experiences whether it is in the inpatient or outpatient setting. “The ‘A’ grade says to our community that we work to earn their trust each day.”

This is the second consecutive “A” rank for Bayonne Medical Center.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade was established under the direction of a Blue-Ribbon National Expert Panel and twice a year assigns grades to over 2,600 U.S. hospitals by utilizing nearly 28 measures of available hospital safety data. Conducted by patient safety experts, this work is peer-reviewed, transparent and free to the public.

“Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like Bayonne Medical Center that focus on advancing patient safety. This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals, to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”

Bayonne University Medical Center was among 855 hospitals across the United States awarded an ‘A’ in the Fall 2018 catalog of grades.
