Health care is for everyone
CarePoint Health—including Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital and Hoboken University Medical Center—is committed to developing inclusive policies and procedures for every one of its patients and employees. It’s why we’ve partnered with the Hudson Pride Center to provide respectful, inclusive and affirmative care to the large lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) community that lives and works in Hudson County.
Leading the way in ensuring full access to needed services
Jersey City is one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in this country and home to the largest LGBTQ+ community in New Jersey. By partnering with Hudson Pride Center we feel we will be able to increase our sensitivity and cultural competence in order to create a welcoming environment that addresses the specific needs of the LGBTQ+ community.
Designing a new model of care
It is our intent to construct a model of care that breaks down disparities by addressing the unmet health care needs lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people face.
Our initiative will include working closely in the areas of:
- PREP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) services
- Hormone therapy
- Women’s health
- Mental health
- Overall better connection and referral to ensure patients’ sexuality and gender identities are understood and respected.
A new employee group has been formed to start the work necessary to address the goals and objectives of our new alliance with the Hudson Pride Center.
CarePoint Health and Hudson Pride Center will partner to host community events and activities, such as:
- Hudson Pride Center’s annual Trans Youth Camp in June
- A LGBTQ+ Health Fair during Pride Month in August
We must communicate with knowledge and understanding about the health concerns and barriers to care among LGBTQ+ people so that everyone feels comfortable seeking the services they need.
